Reminders on ESP(EAP) and EMI Courses Enrollment
for the Spring Semester of 2025
Ⅰ. Qualifications
Students of the Day 4-year Program reaching CEFR-B2 level (or CSEPT 240) or above or those who completed General English L6 in or before 109 (2020) Academic Year are eligible for taking ESP/EAP/EMI (English as Medium of Instruction) courses offered by CELT and other departments. These courses with required earned credits, as per the list of ESP(EAP) and EMI courses specified by the CELT in the announcement, are legitimately counted as waivers for the 24-credit General English Program.
Ⅱ. Credits per Semester
Qualified students should select courses during the course enrollment period. These courses are listed under elective courses; namely, students may choose their interested courses from the specific list of the semester and add up to 7 or 8 credits every semester without repeating the same courses that have been taken earlier.

Ⅳ. Periods for Elective Course Enrollment
A. Dates (respectively for preliminary enrollment, the first and the second adding and dropping courses) are listed in Wenzao School Calendar.
B. There are three stages for elective course enrollment, all to be processed online and related information is briefly described below.
1.Preliminary Selection:
(a)Students register their interested courses (without confirmation yet).
(b)The Computing System will screen students by the conditions preset for every class, such as the maximum number of students, prerequisites for the courses, or limitation of students’ year group. Next, for classes over the maximum number of students, the system will randomly remove students.
(c)The Computing System will also screen and remove randomly the courses from students who have registered over the allowed number of credits.
2.First Adding/Dropping Courses:
(a)Application is processed on a first-come-first-served basis.
(b)After students’ logging onto the system and completing adding or dropping, the enrollment lists are determined by the sequence of successful submission.
(c)For additional quota for enrollment, an applicant has to apply online for approval by the teacher who conducts the course.
3.Second Adding/Dropping Courses:
(a)Procedures remain the same as the First Adding/Cropping Courses.
(b)For additional quota for enrollment, an applicant has to apply online for approval by the teacher who conducts the course.
Ⅴ. Retaking and Making-up the ESP/EAP/EMI Courses
For students of the Day 4-year Program, who are required to retake or make-up Level 7 to Level 9 courses, all ESP courses are semester-based courses. Please log onto the School Information System for enrollment during the periods (respectively for preliminary selection and adding/dropping courses) as announced for enrollment for the Spring Semester of 2025.
For students of the Day 4-year Program, who are required to retake or make-up ESP courses, all ESP courses are semester-based courses, and students may apply as long as the course subject and credits are the same, without distinction in courses offered in the first or the second semester.
Ⅵ. Dropping/Withdrawing (after Mid-term Exams) from the ESP/EAP/EMI Courses
The due day for online adding and dropping of elective courses will be the end of the first week of the new semester. Students may apply for dropping courses within the period; after the period of dropping, application will no longer be accepted. However, students may withdraw from the courses after the mid-term exams of the semester, and complete application for withdrawal during the period as specified in Wenzao School Calendar of the semester.
