 Applying to level up in 112-2 General English Program

 

Reminder: The 4-year College students who have participated in the CSEPT in the second semester in each academic year and acquired the scores that meet the rules for skipping levels will be reassigned into classes at appropriate levels by the CELT, so it is not necessary for them to apply for it but to check their course schedules online before the new semester starts.

 

Dear students,

 

Those who study General English can apply for skipping levels in the 112-2academic year. Please read the following five rules carefully. If you meet the requirements, please download the attached application form, fill out the form, and attach photocopies of related test reports for verification. Please submit them to the CELT, and the dates for application will be from 2024/01/06 to 2024/03/01 (the deadline of application goes by the school’s calendar).

The criteria for the equivalent English proficiency test result are as follows:

 

1. Students will only be allowed to skip up. Downward skipping is not allowed.

 

2. The criteria for the equivalent English proficiency test results are as follows:

(1)

Students wishing to skip to A1b must score an equivalence of 81 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

Students wishing to skip to Level 2 must score an equivalence of 120 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

Students wishing to skip to A2a must score an equivalence of 120 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

Students wishing to skip to Level 3 must score an equivalence of 145 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

(3)

Students wishing to skip to A2b must score an equivalence of 150 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

Students wishing to skip to Level 4 must score an equivalence of 170 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

(4)

Students wishing to skip to B1a must score an equivalence of 180 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

Students wishing to skip to Level 5 must score an equivalence of 201 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

(5)

Students wishing to skip to B1b must score an equivalence of 220 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

Students wishing to skip to Level 6 must score an equivalence of 220 on the CESPT English proficiency test.

(6)

Students who would like to transfer to ESP courses must score 240 or above on the CESPT, or provide evidence equivalent to such level in other English proficiency tests. 

Applicants should fill out their application forms, and provide photocopies of related test reports for verification.

 

3. The applicants’ valid English proficiency test reports will be verified in the first stage. Those who are qualified will then enter the second stage of verification. In the second stage, the criteria will be based on students’ class ranking from the current semester (students in the top 50% can skip a maximum of 3 levels). Decisions on whether the level-skipping application is approved or not will be made after a comprehensive assessment.

 

4. Way of Application:

  • Paper application by completing the printed application form to be submitted in person by the applicant or by an agent on his/her behalf. 
  • Online application by completing the specified google form (Please fill the form: 112 Academic Year Fall Semester General English Level Up Application ).
  • The application should be submitted to CELT for processing from June 15, 2023 to September 15, 2023 (as stated in the newest school calendar). 

 

5. The finalized list will be made in an official announcement by the CSEPT. Please be sure to check the personal class schedule online before the start of the semester.

 

6. (Reminder) Once the level-skipping application is approved, the applicant will need to buy new class materials.
